Other music videos tha are similar to my own

http://prezi.com/cse00weqfd6k/no1-music-video/

I have previously presented my music video pitch to my class and got quite alot of good feedback that could help me make improvements. Most of the class committed on the large amount of footage i have to include within my video and whether or not it will work out. However, i have now decided not to show the full storyline for all of my characters. Also the song i have chosen is long enough to get my point or message across to the audience. The class said that my storyline was unique and very different from other gospel or rnb videos, they said it was intresting. After presenting my pitch i have realised that my presentation may not appeal to everyone as i originally planned. In this case i may include a variety of different ages and ethnicities within the video  so more people can relate to it. The majority or the class suggested i include old people within my video. I believe that would be very difficult to do as i cant really relate to the problems old people go through, but somhow i will ask older people than myself and widen my knowledge of this. The song begins slow, which made people question whether my story would fit that particular song. I believe the slow, sad song helps people think about life and their problems. Towards the end of the song the tone increases, and it gets faster, this is the point where we see the lives turning around. The faster the pace, the happier the characters get on screen. I was given very good advice to change the idea to a black and white theme intsead, i may consider this for certain scenes, not for the whole thing.

My Mood Board

Previously in lesson i created a mood board about my ideal music video. Based upon how i was my music video to look, the genre of the video and style i had to create a mood board. I searched through various magazines to descover the perfect images to suit the mood of my music video. I want my music video to touch people and to tell a story to people. I want it  not only to entertain people but allow them to relate to the actors within my video. The image i have are all sad and give off some sort of message to its audience. The theme of my music video is death, depression and the story is that no matter how low you are there is always a way to reach happiness. The image of the knife, cards and jewellery may relate to youths, as it is about gang violence and how unless you "play your cards right" you may not end up alive. The dark pictures of females in black, links to death. The words down the side of the page represent the evil within the world, the sadness that makes individuals give up on life and believe that there is nothing more to live for. This is the reason why the cross and jesus have been stuck down with celatape.

Previously in my media lesson we re-created the music video Baby by Britney Spears, which improved our skills in many areas. In order to make a music video various roles have to be allocated, such as camera man, director, assistant-director, make-up artist, choreographer and many more important roles. To begin planning for our music video we distributed the roles according to who was talented and had the ability to own that role. I was an extra and the choreographer for this video, which allowed be to have some authority as well as being apart of the actual video. Making the Britney Spears video helped improve my time managment skills as well as editing skills. I managed to work well in a team to have a succesful outcome. I enjoyed the dancing side of things, and the taking part in an actual routine. Not only because i was with the rest of my class mates but because i myself created the whole dance routine as i was the choreographer.

    Evaluation Question 7

Before creating my final horror film opening i was unable to take various shots and understand any shot types. So that we could develop our skills we practised shooting mini prelim tasks to get us used to holding the camera. We had a chance to figure out how to hold the camera correctly, what the buttons meant and also how to film with a tripod. In one of my tasks i created a short film which included various shot types. One shot was a long shot, this is when the full length of the actors body is on screen. This showed the audience what the characters where wearing as well as their personality. We also used this shot in our horror film to have the same effect. Another shot we used was a match on action, to show a person entering a door and coming out on the other side. We included this in our horror film to show the location which was a church. The match on action shot allowed the audience to see the dark gloomy environment of the church and how fast she walked through the door. A close up was included in both prelim task and horror film to show the characters facial expressions, so that the audience are aware of what they are going through at that particular moment. The use of a close up, adds to the scary effect that the character is constantly being watched, that she is always unsafe. An over the shoulder shot was used to show two people conversating somehow. Within my horror film the ghostly figure was seated behind the main character. This scene is similar to my prelim task scene, because it shows two people in the same place at the same time. Even though this shot had the same effect on the audience as the prelim, my partner and I changed the scene slightly because the genre was different. Instead of the main female character having a real converstion with this ghostly figure, the 'ghost' was having a converstion with her. This conversation was not a pleasing one, it was a taumenting, disturbing and horric one. Overall, taking part in the mini prelim tasks helped me improve on certain areas. It prepared us for the actual making of my horror film.
